DEI Foundations -Unconscious Bias
The Unconscious Bias training is designed to support our employee’s overall understanding of their own personal biases and the challenges that we face in navigating our own propensity to pre-judge people and situations as threats to what we define as “safe.” This course creates an opportunity for participants to engage in substantive group learning about how to control for our biases and create more relational approaches to how we interact with our peers in our work teams.
Those who complete this course will be able to:
1. Define unconscious bias and understand how different types of bias can influence decision making in the workplace.
2. Apply mindfulness to be more aware of how your biases may show up and what you can do.
3. Recognize microaggressions and microaffirmations. Understand how microaggressions undermine a culture of inclusion and microaffirmations help to build a culture of inclusions.
4. Address microaggressions when you witness them in the workplace.
5.Identify the complexity of diversity and inclusion and the different aspects of it that show up in our everyday identity.
