Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

Victoria Anzalone

The Macmillan Learning Black Belt Certification program is offered to employees interested in learning, applying, and embracing the data-driven, structured problem-solving methodology of Lean Six Sigma. Black Belts in training will learn to utilize several process and data analysis tools to investigate key business issues, develop the best solutions to resolve them, and put those ideas into action. It is a great opportunity to build project management and leadership skills while helping to address critical business needs. Black Belt training includes all of the competencies of the Green Belt level, plus an additional 40 hours of statistical analysis training and a greater emphasis on team management. With support from a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, participants in the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt program will: • Work on a process improvement project team and build cross-functional relationships with fellow team members from various departments. • Define and gain a clear understanding of the current state of the problem they are looking to solve through the use of several Lean Six Sigma tools and techniques. • Measure and analyze data to accurately capture the magnitude of the problem and to ensure resources address the most significant root causes. • Develop the ability to apply more complex statistical concepts to business issues and metrics, including basic statistics, measurement system analysis, hypothesis testing, regression testing, and more; help to establish a culture of utilizing key performance indicators and statistical data analysis to make informed, aligned decisions. • Problem-solve with their project team—brainstorm, prioritize, and select solutions that best align with company strategy and have the greatest impact on the problem addressed; learn when and how to apply quality function deployment and multigenerational planning methods. • Employ key project management tools such as a project charter, communication plan, implementation plan, control plan, and more; learn when and how to use financial analysis, benchmarking, and dashboards. • Facilitate a Black Belt level project until its completion and pass the Black Belt exam.
